Meet the Assistant Principal
Matthew Smith
My name is Matthew Smith, and I am excited to be one of your Assistant Principals. Prior to Las Colinas, I was an Assistant Principal at McWhorter Elementary, Perry Middle School for six years, an 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Blalack Middle School for six years, and a 5th grade Language Arts teacher at Riverchase Elementary for four years. My entire career has been with CFB, and I’m proud and honored to continue that relationship with this amazing district and community. I have two children--both of whom currently attend CFB elementary and middle schools.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, and after moving to Texas, discovered a true love for education. I then pursued my Masters of Teaching degree from TWU in Denton, and finally my Principal certification from Lamar.
Working with CFB students and families has been the most fulfilling part of my professional life. These early years are so important for building confidence, creating useful skills and habits, and learning how to be a successful person both now and in the future. Thank you, Las Colinas families, for the pleasure of working with you and your students. I am looking forward to the wonderful year ahead.
